An egg basket, (singular) - for Handmade Monday!

I know I said last Monday that I wanted to finish at least two baskets by now.... well I didn't, I only managed one - what a disappointment! Why does everything always take longer than you expect? Anyway, I am pleased with it - it's an egg basket.....in the US they're sometimes called "buttocks baskets", (for reasons that will become obvious, see below!) I do enjoy myself when I'm making baskets.

The handle has a design woven into it, a chevron running in opposite directions to the centre. To make the pattern stand out, I dyed the weaving splint blue.

One other target from last week was achieved, the new seat rail for the stool is made and glued in place. That's the easy bit done, just a couple of weeks worth of weaving to go onto the seat now.

We also started a big Danish chair seat and finished four other rush seats last week, so we weren't slacking, honest!

For the second consecutive week I'm taking part in Wendy's Handmade Monday, pop over and have a browse, the page is here. Some lovely things to look at.

I want a buttock's basket, it looks so lovely I almost want to buy a flock of hens so I can go and collect eggs.

What a gorgeous basket!! I can't imagine that anyone could weave two of these in a week, so I have to say very well done to you!!

Thanks for taking part in HM x

Everything I do seems to take twice as long as I anticipate lol. Really lovely basket. Great work :)

I love that basket - you are very talented. This would take me for ever to do and then it would be all wrong! I also want to go collect eggs now - but I don't have any hens!
Happy Monday

Stunning stuff. I can't imagine making that very quickly, such beautiful work.

I know what you mean about things taking longer than they should. And when life gets in the way sometime you just wish you could give it all in a craft without hassle. However, that basket is so well made I wouldn't be so hard on yourself! I think it rocks!

Thank you everyone - I'd love to own some hens too!! I've been trying to leave comments for you all, but sometimes it's worked and sometimes it hasn't! So please don't be offended if you haven't heard from me, I did my best but failed! Why can't I use my Google account to comment I wonder? It worked okay on pop up comment boxes, but not on comments made on the page - strange. It's nearly as bad as my Facebook page!!!

Can't help with the messaging I'm afraid but I do admire your work, it is a lovely basket, great for Easter, I can just imagine it filled with eggs, (of the chocolate variety) :o)

love the basket, they look like they take so much work to make them so intricate.
